As you step into the pub you instantly feel at home with the beige surroundings, French mirrors and bookcases, that gives both a spacious and cosy ambience at the same time. The best feature has to be the bathroom door that is completely covered in books to represent a big bookcase, which completely fooled me at first! Greeted by friendly staff, we were led to our table and I was naturally excited to experience the menu, a typical selection of gastro pub grub with a delicious twist. The choice of starters consisted of smoked salmon, chicken, avocado and crispy bacon and chicken liver parfait with apple and pear chutney. I liked the fact that there were only three starters on the menu to choose from because on numerous occasions, it’s been hard to make up my mind when there are eight or more! I decided to try the chicken liver parfait with apple and pear chutney which was absolutely scrumptious. The main meal choice was equally challenging with a choice of fish cakes with poached egg and hollandaise sauce, the classic sausage and mash and vegetable risotto with sour cream; however I opted for the old favourite - the burger, you can’t go wrong with that! The waitress also confirmed that it was rather tasty so I requested medium rare with cheese and onion rings too, why not? The burger was very satisfying and cooked to perfection! It was now time for dessert. No matter how full you are, you can always fit a teeny bit more in, or in my case quite a lot as I went for the Eton Mess - a crunchy, creamy and squidgy mess that was heavenly. There is everything to love about this dessert; it was ever so inviting despite me being full to the brim. Hot apple pie, chocolate fudge cake and cheese and crackers were also on offer on the menu! No doubt you’ll be impressed by the stylish decor in the pub as it was designed by Jo Clevely and Clare Sibun with The Chelsea Ram being Jo’s first ever pub development. Jo says, “The Chelsea Ram is located in a true Chelsea haven and has a strong following from Chelsea locals. Seventeen years on my values have not changed, however I wish to renew the “feminine” feel of the pub.” The best feature has to be the bathroom door that is completely covered in books to represent a big bookcase, which completely fooled me at first!
